What does it mean to recycle, and Is it Really That Important?

There is a lot of recycling information out there and environmental groups are making a great deal of effort to answer the question “What does it mean to recycle?” The environmental protection agency and other environmental groups have promoted recycle awareness everywhere and explained why recycling is so important.

Recycling means finding the best way to re-use products before throwing them out and having them fill landfills and create huge amounts of waste. This means, there is actually a lot more to recycling then just sorting out your paper from your plastics. re-use, reduce, and recycling the proper way means finding solutions to getting rid of products, ways that don’t involve throwing them in the trash where they go to the city dump . Ways that help you get rid of items in your home in a healthy sanitized way. It helps you get rid of waste in a way that does not harm the environment. Recycling means really starting to use the three R’s (reduce, re-use and recycle).

So the first thing that is important is to reduce the amount of trash you produce. This is really a simple thing to do, all you have to do is buy things that last longer, avoid the use of plastic bags when buying groceries or products, by instead carrying items in canvas totes or backpacks. You also need to be careful with packaging from products you buy. Try to purchase items that use recycled boxes, and packaging methods

When effectively answering your question “what does it really mean to recycle?” you also want to start reusing items, or finding other uses for items you have. For instance, many glass food jars can be re-used to hold items like sugar, beans, lentils, etc. Plastic jugs can be re-used to hold juice, water or other things.

Recycling is also crucial to the environment. This means you need to separate your plastics from your paper items, and do things like start a compost heap with those leaves, food items and other biodegradable trash. This reduces the amount of waste that ends up in the city dump. Doing all of these things help the environment, help you get rid of old items or help others by giving them items that are still usable which they could otherwise never afford.

But the issue at heart here, is that each of us have to answer the question: “What does it mean to recycle?” We need to do everything we can to recycle and re-use items. Otherwise it will affect our environment, and eventually kill our habitat and even humanity. Don’t ignore this, as it is already happening and we can see the damage done in things like the terrible weather changes we are experiencing.
